
Ju Hyeon Han, a South Korean-born soprano, grew up in New Zealand, where she completed her secondary and undergraduate studies. During her time in New Zealand, she performed in numerous concerts and oratorio works, including appearances with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and as the soprano soloist in Handel's Judas Maccabaeus, Mozart's Requiem, and Schubert's Mass in G.
In 2008, Ms. Han moved to the United States, where she earned a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy from New England Conservatory in 2011, followed by a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Stony Brook University in 2019. At Stony Brook, she was recognized for her excellence in academics and her exceptional service as a teaching assistant with the 2019 President’s Award for Distinguished Doctoral Students.
While in the U.S., Ms. Han has performed in numerous recitals and early music concerts, including appearances at the Steans Institute at the Ravinia Festival, American Bach Soloists Academy, and the Mostly Modern Festival. In 2017, she sang the role of the Female Chorus in Stony Brook Opera's production of Britten's The Rape of Lucretia. In May 2025, she will perform the role of Sophia in the world premiere of Paola Prestini’s Sensorium Ex with Vision into Art and Beth Morrison Projects.
As an educator, Ms. Han served as an adjunct voice instructor at William Paterson University for four years, where she was honored with the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Teaching Award for Adjunct Excellence in 2021-2022. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Voice at Ithaca College.
Ms. Han has a special interest in voice rehabilitation and is passionate about working with students with disabilities. A strong advocate for fostering inclusivity in higher education, she regularly consults and lectures on accessibility and inclusion at institutions both in the U.S. and abroad.
Teaching and Lectures
Ms. Han is available for private lessons in voice in classical and musical theater genres, as well as private lessons in Braille music.
In addition, Ms. Han is available for lectures and private consultations on accessibility and inclusion in music education.
